Friday, March 28, 2008 Rig to the Mechanic
We unhook all the shore connections and take the RV to the mechanic. Leaving the RV Park, the engine light comes on and the RV is shifting funny.
The mechanic says he will see what the code is and see if it has something to do with the transmission.
He is going to do a full tune-up and check everything. We are getting new hoses, belts, plugs, points, rotor, oil, filter, coolant…. the works. He is also doing oil and filter for the generator. He will also check that slow leveler.
While the motor home is at the mechanic, we take the Jeep to the dealer for an oil change and checkup. Everything is good with the Jeep and we go wash it.
Next, we make a a trip to the hardware store for more tools and supplies. Then we go to the grocery store. Scupper and I wait in the Jeep while Deb shops. This store (Food World or something) has a huge car port in the parking lot so we where in the shade.
Then, back to the mechanic to stash the supplies and groceries. They are still working on the RV. They are having trouble locating the lower radiator hose.
We set off to the RV store to get light bulbs and valve stem extenders for the rear tires.
We find all the bulbs except for the backup/dock light. We also find hook eyelets for the awnings so we can hang out our bird feeder and wind chimes.
The RV store ordered the vent cover we need for the Gray tank vent. It will be in by next Tuesday.
The mechanic finishes his work. The code and shifting problem was a wire that was gnawed through by some animal. They have an old one and they fix it. They found the bottom radiator hose, but they could not get the top one so they put the old one back on. They say it looks ok. I think I will have them order a spare.
I notice the steering has a squeal on the way home. I will have them check it out when we go back to get the tow bar installed.
