Wednesday, April 02, 2008 Leak, Squeal, Mechanic

Debra takes Jeep to mechanic at 8:00 AM.

I finish up some things on the RV. Drain and flush Black and Gray tanks.

We fill Propane wash the Rig. Head out to shop and go to mechanic to pickup Jeep.

When we come out of the Albertson’s we see a puddle under the RV, it looks like
coolant .

We go to the mechanic and tell him about the leak and the squealing power steering.

The leak was a bad hose clamp on the upper hose. This was the hose they could not get and they reused the old hose clamp. They put on a new hose clamp and the leak is fixed.

The squealing power steering was caused by a belt that was too long. They had ordered the same number that was on the motor originally, but when they looked at to day, the tensioning idler was fully extended and not properly tensioning the belt.

They went and got the next smaller belt and the problem is solved.

Next they find the Tow rig has a four pin plug for the lights and the RV has a six pin. A trip to Norm’s RV and they get the correct plug for the RV. It’s not a match for the bracket on the RV but we make it work. We will get the correct bracket later.

We go back to the camp site and hook up the Jeep and it all works. Sweet!

Another rich and full day! Tomorrow we hit the road.
