Tuesday, October 07, 2008 Checkin' out our new camp

Today we get to check out the Park http://www.magnoliarvparksc.com/index.htm

The park is in the Sumter National Forest http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/fms/ .

If you have Google Earth this file will take you to our camp   Google Earth Placemark

It used to be a KOA. It has the little KOA looking office with a small store, showers and laundry. There is a pool and a picnic area and a nice place for Scupper to run.

There are probably six or eight RVs that are full timers. They are here for a while, you can tell by the covers on the tires and the way the camp is set up.

I do some research on the heater so I can give the repair shop some information so they can start looking for parts. The heater is one commonly used in Class A Motor Homes. It is made by Acme Radiator & Air Conditioning, Inc. I think Wily Coyote had one of these in his RV.

The repair shop is about an hour away in Chesnee, SC. We make arrangements to be at the shop 8:00 AM next Monday. If we have to stay and wait for parts, there is a Wall Mart, and a Camping World in Spartanburg, SC., both about 15 minutes from the shop. The Repair shop, Foothills Ford, says we can stay there as well. We may get the Camping World to do a wash and wax on the rig while we are there. The wash and wax takes two days, so we may be in Spartanburg for a while next week.
