Tuesday, November 25, 2008 Silver Work, Cranberries, and Hot Water.

Deb’s working on a ring she is making out of a silver quarter and making cranberry sauce for the Thanksgiving potluck dinner here at the RV Park. The Park owners, Gary and Marcia, are providing the turkey and drinks and the campers are bringing the rest of the meal. It should be fun.

I’m trying to catch up on the blog and do a little more trouble shooting on the rig.

We have never been impressed with the water heater on the RV. Now that is gotten cold we are even less impressed. I checked the temperature of the water in the heater by draining some out of the pressure relief valve. The temperature was where it should be, between 120º and 130º, but not anywhere near that at the sink or shower.

I decided to check the valves on the hot water tank. There are three valves, one on the cold intake, one on the hot outlet and a crossover valve. For normal operation, the in and out are supposed to be open and the crossover is closed. I found all three valves open! That was the problem! I closed the cross over and we have hot water!

It is great to be sorting out all the little things on the rig. This is why we decided to stay put here in South Carolina for a few months, to get to know the rig full time and get things all working as they should before we make any big trips. We should be ready for some serious traveling by spring.
