Monday, December 08, 2008 Celery, Allspice and a Tree

We tossed out our old Christmas tree base when we left Annapolis. It was cast-iron and very heavy. We figured we would get a new one, you know one of those little metal ones with the little legs.

Well, today we needed some celery for stew and some allspice for mulled wine, so we thought we would look for a tree base too.

We went to the closest town, Johanna, no celery or allspice, the woman at the dollar store told us to go to the hardware store in Clinton for a tree base and there is a grocery there as well. Off we went.

On the way we saw a Christmas tree place, the only one we have seen around here. They where closed, so we figured we would stop on our way back from Clinton.

No place in Clinton had any tree bases or trees!  Each place we tried sent us to somewhere else, but nothing!

Weird!

Our next stop was the Kmart in Lurens. They had some tree bases. We got one. Not what we had in mind, but it will work. The grocery also had the celery and the spices we wanted. Life is good!

On the way home we bought a tree from the lot we saw on our quest for the tree base. It turned out to be not only the only place to get a tree, but all the proceeds go to a place that helps women with addiction problems. Good karma.
