Friday, December 12, 2008 O-Rings and Checking With NASA and Getting Mooned
The Propane truck came to fill the big tank here at the Campground today. We have been waiting for him to come by so he could take a look at our propane fill valve situation. The last time we filled up our new “Top Check Valve” was leaking during the fill. (See Friday, December 05, 2008).
The driver had a look and recommended getting a new O-Ring for the old valve. He normally has them on the truck, but was out.
I checked the NASA web site to see where they buy their O-Rings so I could stay away from that supplier.
After a 60 mile round trip to Chapin, SC we have a new O-Ring installed. There was no charge for the O- Ring, just gas for the Jeep. We will be filling propane again in a few days and we will see if this fixed the problem.
I stayed up to try to get some pictures of the Moon. The moon's average distance from us is about 238,855 miles (384,400 km). Tonight it will be just 221,560 miles (356,567 km) away.
It will be 14 percent bigger in our sky and 30 percent brighter than some other full moons during the year, according to NASA.
I waited until about midnight when the moon was directly above. The pictures didn’t come out as good as I had hoped. I am going to try again tomorrow, but earlier when it looks bigger.
